Narrative Essay: Who I Am

             I was born in Redding, California on October 2, 1976, to Tim and Beth K____. I have two older brothers named Tom and Tony. We grew up between two small towns, Igo and Ono. There were a total of about 600 people in the two towns combined. I attended elementary school at the Igo-Ono Elementary with 120 other kids. The other 120 children attending school there were in grades K-8. We lived in the middle of 42 acres on top of a large hill in a house that my mom and dad had built from the ground up. While growing up I was fortunate enough to be able to do most things that all boys wanted to do, such as shoot guns, ride motorcycles every day after school, go fishing, and ride horses with my cousin. I played peewee football when I was in the eighth grade even though I was much smaller than all the other kids my age. After a summer vacation to Montana the summer after I graduated from the eighth grade, my parents decided to move out of California. My parents sold the house while I was in my freshman year of high school. It was during that year that I really got into the sport I love doing the most: wrestling.
             I was 14 when we moved up to Libby, Montana. It was the beginning of summer and I didn't know anybody there, so my dad and I would take our ATV's out to the mountains and go fishing. We got to explore a lot of the area this way and found some good spots to go hunting in the process. Once high school began, I made friends quickly because I played sports. I played football and wrestling as my extracurricular activities. One day, during my junior year, I was sitting in class and got a letter telling me about a student exchange program called AFS. My parents and I found out more about the program and I was able to go to Iceland for one year. We had several fundraisers in order to offset the cost some, and the whole town pitched in order to help me go.
