Dress codes: good or bad idea?
Have you ever been in classes where a student was wearing clothing that was too distractive or too revealing that made your attention go elsewhere? Do you ever feel like you need to go buy the popular trend of clothing? Have you ever not been included in activities because of your clothing? Have you ever been affiliated with a gang because of the clothes that you wear, or ever been looked at as a gang member. Have you ever been made fun of because of the clothes you wear due to your religious morals? People should be able to wear whatever they want as long as they keep modesty in their decision of clothing.Why should we have dress codes? The faculty of schools think that having dress codes will stop discrimination and violence. Having dress codes would make grades go up because regular clothes cause distractions. Dress codes and the government. The First and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution govern the School dress codes. The debate over mandatory school uniforms has surfaced as an issue in school law. As of today, the Supreme Court hasn't addressed the school uniforms issue. It would be harder for students to conceal weapons within their clothing. She said that she believes that in our culture, that a lot of a child's identity while growing up comes from finding the style of clothing he/she likes, and uniforms don't allow that to develop. Aimee interviewed Erin asking "Do you see many girls that are wearing clothes that are too revealing?" Erin replied, "Yes, in my first block class, right across from me, are two girls whose underwear show while just sitting upright.
