Making choices

             A change is a natural process that everyone experiences in life. An alteration can be for the best or even for the worse; you cannot really tell the outcome before it occurs. In every child's life, they are asked more than once, what do they want to be when they grow up? Some of the responses kids make are pretty random like being a superhero. Once my plan for the future was to be a WNBA basketball player; now it is to be a veterinarian.
             When I was a child I wanted to be a professional basketball player. I lived and breathed basketball twenty-four hours a day; it was as if basketball was my best-friend. My dedication and love for basketball was over the edge. In elementary and middle school I was on three basketball teams at one time. I was never tired of this sport because it seemed like something was inspiring me to pursue my dreams. Probably, some sort of motivation that comes down to the love for the sport. Great things started to happen for me. The basketball coach for Penncrest high school began to call my house repeatedly about the summer league. Through the summer before my ninth grade year, I made it my duty to play with the teammates from the Lions basketball team. I went to many tournaments with the team and eventually became mentally attached to a short old man who loved the game of basketball. A very popular man who roamed the halls of the school, his name was Jumbo. Jumbo was my mentor and also an inspiration. He made me secure with who I am and what I wanted to be, a WNBA basketball player. Through moments in time, Mr. Higgins reassured my parents a that he had no doubt in his mind that I would be on Junior varsity or possibly varsity my freshman year. This meant the world to me, to hear these sweet victory words from the top coach's mouth. After try outs everything went down hill.
             My decisions in my upcoming future changed when I received a phone call from Mr. Higgins. Mr. Higgins announced
