Grendel
Strong, brave, role model, courageous, judgmental, leader, devoted, what do these characteristics describe? A superhero. He contributed his time, talent and life to the community of The King. Beowulf was just like a superhero throughout this poem. He displayed his strength, courage, and courtesy by fighting Grendel, Grendel's mother, and the Dragon throughout the Beowulf was not a small guy, he had great strength, and with that he used to his advantage in his battles, especially with Grendel.While fighting Grendel, Beowulf m
anaged to tear his arm from his body from the shoulder an rip it off. His strength was demonstrated through two consecutive fights with beasts, one bigger then the last, an he still managed to overcome both. It took him courage to enter Denmark alone but he seized the plagues and established himself as a hero, which would take the most courage of all. Another trait Beowulf displayed was courtesy. He waited to become a king so he could learn more about how to be a wise king from Hrothgar. After defeating Grendel he then slays his mother which is described as n even greater beast then he was. Beowulf displayed strength throughout his battles with Grendel and His mother, courage throughout his life in Denmark fighting evils, and courtesy throughout his time being king and realizing to looking out for the people is also a trait of a king besides being a warrior. He came to the King's town and freed it of Grendel. Another one of Beowulfs superhero-like traits would be his great display of courage scattered through the story. There are many qualities a hero can posses, some important then others. It seems inhuman which in my opinion makes Beowulf more of a superhero through the epic tale.
