Freshman college students face many changes when entering college. They are affected socially, academically, economically et cetera. Schedules in college are much lighter, however, the workload is much heavier. This can pose a problem for many. The widely growing environment of the John Jay student community provides many opportunities for students to interact with each other. This facilitates the establishment of relationships this allows students to not only socialize but also become more comfortable with their environment. Also, public school students that are not used to paying for school have to get used to it very quickly because tuition can be overwhelming.
             One thing about college that is surprisingly difficult to get used to is, oddly enough, the time frame in which we are to hand in assignments. As odd as this may sound with the explanation it can make sense. For procrastinators like me, procrastination can be attributed to the reason that I constantly deny, laziness. In high school, I would constantly leave things to the very last minute, but I knew I had enough time to finish the assignment in time. Now, this is where the problem is, assignments are given but they actually require the given time to be done. This does not allow for procrastination meaning I always have something to do. This can drastically cut out leisure time and in some occurrences sever ties with out of school friends. However, one very positive thing about the schedules is that students can wake up much later than in high school. This allows for a happier person in the morning when going to class because the student is now more rested. I can personally attest this because of the fact that I am a mild insomniac. Therefore it takes me a very long time, if I even do, to fall asleep. These extra hours allow for at least a little more rest.
