Why Destory when You can Preserve?
The year is 2030 and there are no more trees in the world. You found out yesterday that the lumber company cut down the last living tree. Now there are no more trees in the world, and it is affecting our lives. We see the affects of global warming and lack of oxygen. You think to yourself, in a few years we will have to have oxygen tanks because we have no trees to give out oxygen. Is this what our lives will be like? Will we have to be confined to our houses because outside we will not be able to breathe? What will happen to us if we keep chopping down these trees? Will we have to live with our mistakes because once we cut down all the trees there is no way to get them back. In this paper, I shall argue that we should all try to save the world's rainforests because it will in turn ruin our lives in the long run.First, we should try to save the rainforests because if we don't many species of animals will be extinct. James D. Nations states that, "Today, the human being are eradicating plants and animals at the rate of thousand of species per year. By the end of the twentieth century, this rate may reach ten-thousand species destroyed per year, or more than one species eradicated an hour." (91) This shows us that we ne
If we do destroy our rainforest what will happen in the future if we lose our crops? Will we risk our lives by destroying the rainforest?Third, we should all try to preserve the rainforest so the homes of the indigenous people that live there will not be destroyed. We have so many animals that we have never discovered and we could study. ed to stop cutting down the forest and try to preserve it instead and because we don't know all of the species in the world yet we may be eliminating a lot more animals than we know of. Nations states that, "The tribal people's understanding of the plant and animals of the tropical rainforest is unequaled even by teams of modern scientists. Let us remember that we are fighting for animals and plants that provide for us and without them we die as well. We are cutting down the rainforest and planting our crops, but we are draining the soil of the nutrients. The indigenous tribes also coexist with the rainforest better than we do. We have so many plants in the rainforest still that if we look hard enough we might find some more germ plasm that we can use. Knowing that the rainforest provides food for us, knowing that the rainforest produces important medicines for us, and knowing that we are destroying the home of the indigenous tribes that live there, our apathy must give way to action. It is now that we should care and act. There could be animals that make our lives easier. Why should we try to make our live harder instead of easier? How much longer will we sit around and watch the lumber companies destroy our world?Second, we should save the rainforest because it may contain many types of plants. We need to do what is right; we need to stop chopping down trees in the rainforest now! We should save what is left of the rainforest and try to increase its size by planting more seeds. Whoever cares about his of her child's future we should start acting now.
