             Most individuals probably think they are eating a well balanced nutritious diet. However, eating a nutritious, well balanced diet that is in accordance with the recommended daily allowances is more difficult than one might think. After analyzing my own diet during a two day time span it is more evident now just how nutritionally poor my diet really is. This paper will compare and contrast my daily totals of nutrients with the recommended amounts of those nutrients. It will explain in what ways my diet is healthy and in what ways it is not. Finally, it will discuss whether my future years will be filled with health and wellness or illness and disability and why.
             In order to maintain a healthy, well balanced diet it is recommended that an average adult female between the ages of 31-50 consume 700 micrograms of Vitamin A, 75 milligrams of Vitamin C, 15 milligrams of Vitamin E, 1.1 milligrams of Thiamin, 1.1 milligrams of Riboflavin, 14 milligrams of Niacin, 1.3 milligrams of Vitamin B6, 400 micrograms of Folate, 2.4 micrograms of Vitamin B12., 320 milligrams of Magensium, 18 milligrams of Iron and 8 milligrams of Zinc. The adequate intake of Calcium is 1,000 milligrams. In my daily diet I averaged only 220 micrograms of Vitamin A, 1.34 milligrams of Vitamin E, 95.4 milligrams of Vitamin C, 1.06 micrograms of Vitamin B1, there was no consumption of Vitamin B2 or B3 during the two day time period. There was however 14.9 micrograms of B6 consumed, 456 milligrams of Folate, 80 milligrams of Calcium, 456 milligrams of Magnesium, only 5.239 milligrams of Iron and 3.96 milligrams of Zinc. Based on these numbers it is evident to see my daily diet lacks it almost every recommended vitamin and mineral.
