Charles II

The life of Charles II was filled with dread, fear, and heartbreak. He was the eldest surviving child of Charles I and Henrietta Maria of France. Some say that he was the son of their true love. Charles II was born at St. James' Court. As a child, he was treated like a king. He had a wet nurse and professional rockers. Charles lived in luxury, he moved from palace to palace whenever he pleased. He was spoiled and very well taken care of. His childhood was truly golden ("Image of the King"). As a teen, Charles began spending more time with his father. Charles I repeatedly took him under his wing to give him political advice. He thought he could guide and help his son. He also tried to make his son believe the same things as him. He thought his son should have his exact same views. Charles II eventually ruled the kingdom. His reign was very different than that of his fathers. He proved hs father proud when he received an honorary Master of Arts degree ("England In the Reign of Charles II, Vol. 2).
