             Without television and its many advantages, where would the world be at this very moment? Certainly not in the information age that it is in now. The impact that television (A.K.A T.V.) has had on mankind in the last fifty years, is rivaled by few other inventions throughout modern history. Recently television has been given a bad wrap, seen by many people as a cruel invention, mesmerizing and brainwashing its viewers. People have forgotten that television is an educational and entertaining tool used in the everyday lives of people around the world. Television has many advantages and disadvantages that affect the lives of children, so parents should teach their children how to distinguish between reality and fantasy on television.
             Television has many advantages that positively impact young people. Television is very educational and has a lot of valuable information for young people. At first, game shows like "Street Smart", "Wheel of Fortune", "Who wants to be a Millionaire", etc. give a lot of information and improve the knowledge of young people. Educational movies influence young people with positive ideas and themes which they apply to the real world. Movies like "Dancing with Wolves" give information on the relationships between the Native Indians and the early settlers from Europe. Another new movie which just released few weeks ago called "Troy" provides details about the history after the war of Troy. Documentaries, ranging from The Civil War to sports like basketball and baseball are all very educational. But the most important thing out of all these things is the news. News on television is very important as it informs us of important events taking place around the world. The news also includes the weather news which is very important for it tells us of upcoming weather.
