Murder in Mesopotamia By Agatha Christie Book Report Summary
"Murder in Mesopotamia" takes place in Iraq. Amy Leatheran, a thirty-two year old nurse, traveled to Iraq for business at the request of Dr. Reilly, a "civil surgeon at a place called Hassanieh." Amy Leatheran was under the assumption that she would be caring for Dr. Leidner's wife Mrs. Leidner. But what Amy Leatheran was not prepared for was the role she would play in solving Mrs. Leidner's murder. Amy Leatheran traveled to Iraq with Mrs. Kelsey and her husband Major Kelsey. Amy Leatheran had attended Mrs. Kelsey when her baby was born which made them former acquaintances. Dr. Reilly was a "black-haired, long faced man who said all sorts of funny things in a low, sad voice." Leidner had also poisoned Miss Johnson upon finding out her new knowledge of his crimes. Leidner added to his wife's diagnoses by including that Mrs. " The mysterious man at the window wasn't the only strange happening. She's quite young - a snaky-looking creature - a couple of youngsters and that's the lot. " Miss Johnson wouldn't reveal anymore of her discovery to Amy Leatheran instead she said "I've got to think it out first. That same night Father Lavigny had gone missing. Leidner was murdered by her ex-husband Frederick Bosner, a member of the expedition, or a stranger from the outside. Hercule Poirot gathered all the members of the expedition including Captain Maitland, Dr. Leidner's murder Amy Leatheran was on the roof of the expedition house, where some of the archaeological work took place, when she noticed Miss Johnson staring straight in front of her with the most awful look on her face. She's English too - sort of general bottle-washer. "He wore European clothes and he seemed to be standing on tiptoe and trying to look in at one of the windows.
