Moldova as a part of the former Soviet Union since 1990 has gone through major political and economic changes. The old Soviet system was ruined and a new economic system took its place. Therefore each individual in the country was affected by changing environment. That was a time of enlarging horizons and determination of the way and future goals and objectives. At that time I had just graduated from the medical university as a dentist. For me this economic change was a definite opportunity to get involved in new economy as a part of a private company. Lian SRL was established in 1992. The company started its activity as a small importer of dental equipment. I was closely connected to this field due to my academic background. Since 1992 up to 1994 I worked as a sales manager and was in charge for contacts with dental clinics. The staff of the company was originally 3 persons and we did not have any investors or foreign financial assistance. In 1994 I became the general director of the company. My first step was the introduction of a new product group in our company's portfolio- the distribution of pharmaceutical goods. In terms of economic conditions the


In 1994 the first distribution contract with KRKA (one of the leading pharmaceutical Slovenia companies) was signed. Each entrance demands a lot of spending for research of the market, creating and implementing the marketing strategy that reflects to cultural environment, and building the distribution channels. Unfortunately, my desire to gain this broader understanding of the increasingly interdependent global economy remains unsatisfied. I see myself in 10 years as a leader of a team that "opens the door" for established businesses to this demanding, rapidly growing market. At the beginning of my way in business I had only courage to assume responsibility, the ability to evaluate the situation and to make the right decision, the ability to react quickly to changing conditions of work and also intuition to chose the right path. In my opinion it was a great opportunity to penetrate into a rapidly developing niche of the market, to think "out of the box". This decade is the best time to penetrate into the eastern European market: - the level of competition is not very high compared to other, "mature" markets - a customer culture with strong values has already occurred - reliable legislation is already in place to minimize investment risks. Furthermore, an effective manager in the 21st century must be well versed in international accounting. A new market has been developing like a child, going through all stages of growth. Today I manage a team of 30 people; our share of the pharmaceutical market is 8. A background of 12 years in distribution and marketing, a deep knowledge of Western and Eastern European markets, the ability to speak fluent English, Russian and Romanian, an understanding of German, Austrian, Romanian and former Soviet cultures, are all qualities that I will bring to the Top School MBA program. The strategy of global companies and their experience of entrance in different cultural environment make gaining the market share successful. During the past 10 years of work as leader of a private company in a constantly changing and developing market, I have developed a solid foundation in teamwork, analytical, management and problem-solving skills. I love my job because it provides the opportunity to be creative and to give the possibility to talented members of team to express themselves and to do their best for the project .
