Let him have it
We are introduced to the characters of Derek Bentley and Christopher Craig, who were very different people and liked to do different things, for e.g.: Christopher takes guns into school, and Derek loves music. Derek got epilepsy young because of an accident that happened during the world war. in the first scenes of the movie it shows Derek being bombed and buried under a lot of bricks which had hit his head on the bricks which caused him damage to the brain and caused him to have epilepsy. Christopher Craig on the other hand was the local gangster and terrorized everyone in it, Craig wanted revenge on the police for locking up his brother, that is what caused him to start shooting and killing other police men like pc miles, and shooting Fairfax in the arm.I think that peter medak wanted to make this film so that people can get there own opinion and show the true story of what happened or maybe he believes that Bentley is innocent and shouldn't of been hanged and made it so that other people would feel sorry for him and feel the same way as medak would and take his side and to make people feel sorry for him .This story is controversial because many people have different feelings and opinions to everything and
There is a sound of a violin when Derek gets tense and when he is unable to answer the question quickly enough. Christopher craid wishes he had killed more police officers. He has his arm in a sling, which creates sympathy as well. but his sister iris convinced him to get out because he loved music and he wanted to buy the record of the song that he loved so much after that his confidence grew and he liked to take his dogs for walks and that is when he met gangster Christopher Craig ,he had also started to smoke. When Derek was young and got caught in a shed vandalising it with his friends can tell he is going to have a fit because of how the camera is only focusing on him and nothing else and his face expression. As the camera focuses on his face, you can see the cuts and bruises that the police officers had done whilst being arrested which creates sympathy. In the courtroom the place is tense and people are trapped, which creates tension for the two victims. Derek Bentley is shown by the camera's close ups of him getting confused by the judge and the prosecutor firing questions at him from both sides. When Derek and Christopher Craig met he immediately decided that he should join his gang he started to dress like a gangster and act like one after a short period of time his parents forbidden Chris Craig to come to the house or see Derek because he had given his had a box of stolen cigarettes which Derek's dad found out about. The camera focuses on the main people in the courtroom such as his family, the judge and the jury. But instead he moves the white gloves aside and picks up the black hat. The trial was another scene that made the viewers feel sympathy for Derek. He also answers the questions slowly, which is due to his mental disability. The director also creates sympathy when in the policeman's funeral the Home Secretary said, "justice will be done!" This suggests that he was going to get the best possible judge for the case; one who would sentence Derek to death.
