Arthurian Geneology

             Did you know that through out the past 100 years the Arthurian family tree has been translated into hundreds of versions? There is Geoffrey of Monmouth's version which is one of the sources from the family tree of the House of Constantine. Then there is the Vulgate/Post-Vulgate version which comes from the 13th century. Then one of the most famous versions is Sir Thomas Malory's. The last version is Chretien de Troyes' version. These are only four of a dozen versions known to man.
             The genealogy of King Arthur and his family has changed from one generation to another, the spelling of their names have also changed depending on their language or region (http://www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/). Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote Historia regum Britanniae in 1137. He wrote it in Latin but the names are in popular English. In Geoffrey's version Igraine and Gorlais had only one son named Cador instead of having Morgan le Fay and Morgawse. Also, Arthur has a full sister named Anna, which is different from most Arthurian literature (www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/). Geoffrey's version is one of the earlier versions known from history.
             The Vulgate/Post-Vulgate version comes from a number of 13th century romances. This version is a lot like Sir Thomas Malory's version, the difference is manly spelling and the number of his sisters. In this version Ygraine and Hoel (Golois) had four daughters: Morgause, Morgan, Brimesent, and an unnamed daughter. Their was a lot of confusion in this book, it is said that later on in the book Morgan le Fay replaces Brimesent and is married to King Urien of Gorre (www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/).
             One of the most famous versions is Sir Thomas Malory's version which comes from a work called Le Morte d'Arthur (1469). Here Igraine and Duke of Tintagel had three daughters: Morgawse, Elaine, and Morgan le Fay. In this version Arthur and Morgawse have a child
