Miss spiders tea party

Have you ever read a book that was intended for young children but, after you finished it, you realized that it could be used to teach adults a life lesson as well? Many books that are written for a child audience contain a hidden message about life that the author wants the child to understand or learn. Children often see the lighter side of the story as it is told, and the message is completely missed. While the children may miss the hidden meaning, adults are many times able to pick up on it. One children's book that contains an excellent message to both children and adults about life is the book Miss Spider's Tea Party, by David Kirk.
The book Miss Spider's Tea Party is an excellent book that contains a deep meaning beyond what the words are saying. The book is about Miss Spider, who is lonely and wants to make friends among the other insects. Miss Spider decides to have a tea party, yet none of the other insects would join her. All of the insects were afraid of Miss Spider, because she was a spider. Miss Spider tried to invite every insect including, beetles, fireflies, bumblebees, ants, butterflies, and moths. Every insect declined her invitation. The book said that "Ants and spiders will not mix" and the insects were afraid of Miss Spider hurting them. At the end of the book, one moth stayed with Miss Spider after the rest had flown away. The moth was wet and could not fly so Miss Spider took care of it until it was dry. After Miss Spider had taken care of the moth, the moth told all the other insects not to fear Miss Spider any longer. Later that day, every insect gathered at Miss Spider's for tea. This book is an easy reader and it would definitely be appropriate for a teacher to read to kindergarten children or for first and second grade readers to try on their own.
