PC vs. Mac
In the late 20th Century, the mighty invention was completed. Our first Computer ENIAC had been developed. It was a basic calculating device that contained about 17,000 vacuum tubes. Because of its huge body, only the military built it and used it. However, as we always sought better technology to expand our digital world, ENIAC had been modernized to be a smaller and faster computer using IC (integrated circuit). Two major computer companies, IBM and Apple both developed their own computer systems originated from IC-computers, and the competition between these two companies had not been put to an end yet. There is still an immense controversy over which system is greater. I admit that Apple Macintoshes have more stable operating systems and are easier to use, but, in my opinion, people should get IBM compatible PCs because of their variety of software choice, better performance, and relatively cheaper price. First of all, IBM compatibles have more various selection of software. Despite the pop
Finally, buying an IBM compatible PC is better because IBMs have relatively cheaper price. For example, in CompuUSA, a computer store, has a technical service section inside of the store. Now, there are millions of software from games to business tools working with Windows. Nonetheless, some Mac users still say that there are unique programs only compatible with Macs and programs that work better with Macs. It is, though, true that Mac OS is more stable and easier to use than Windows now, but Microsoft is actually learning from Mac OS and trying to emulate Mac OS' interface and stability. Also, after purchase, maintaining an IBM PC costs less than Macs. Because IBM computer technicians outnumber Mac technicians by far, repairing an IBM PC is simpler and cheaper. Secondly, IBM PCs are better because of their better overall performance. However, IBM computers have many more graphic designing programs that work great with Windows. However, Windows users can cope with viruses by using one of various anti-virus programs. ularity of Apple Macintoshes in the 80's, people chose to use IBM compatibles after Microsoft released Windows, and IBM compatibles became the industry standard. Since IBM dominated the market, it is rare to see a program only compatible with Mac in the market. Some people say IBM is worse when it comes to performance because of widespread viruses that can destroy IBM PCs and an unstable operating system, Windows. For example, some graphic designers say Adobe Photoshop CS on Mac OS (an unique operation system for Macintoshes) performs better than Windows version of Photoshop. Nevertheless, IBM PCs have became the industry standard.
