Tragedy is a work of literature where the main character ends up in a catastrophe. The dramatic play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakesspere, expresses the 3 elements of tragedy perfectly. The First element of tragedy is the piece of literature must have a hero or heroine. The second element of tragedy is the destruction of a main character. The Third, and final element of tragedy is the death of the main character must serve a purpose. Well written tradgedy can result in a memerable story.A Hero is not just someone with special powers. The death of romeo and juliet put a an end to the life long feud between their familes. In the story he realizes the only way he can be with his true love, juliet who he thinks is dead, is by taking his own. He destoys himself by drinking poisin that he purchased from an apothecary. Eventhough everyone one will die some day most heros die of causes other than old age or natural death. One man can make a big difference and those me posses the bravery and heart. William wallace’s motive was peace and freedom for scotland. In tragic occasions death does not just serve the purpose of creating more space for new life on earth. “For I will raise her statue(reffering to juliet) in pure gold” –Montague Act V, Scene iii 299.
