Atom Bomb
On August 6th and August 8th year 1945, the US has once again surprised and astounded the whole world when they introduced the most powerful weapon man has ever created, the atomic bomb, into the war. They dropped two of these inconceivably powerful weapons to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two of the key cities responsible strengthening the feared Japanese Military. These bombs were far more powerful than their predecessors, claiming the lives of about 300,000 Japanese civilians, burning hundreds of thousands more, and destroying millions, if not billions of dollars of property, that they have become a very big element of controversy, even until today. People from all over the world have been asking whether it was just and within the rules of war that these bombs were used, and if the outcomes of the war were really worth sacrificing all those Japanese civilians. But of course, the Japanese have their own side of the story, and, surprisingly, in the end, they're not really against what the Americans did. The United States' main argument that they used to justify their actions was that the only way to achieve peace is to destroy Japan's military power, and to destroy it quickly, because the Japanese Military had already deemed itself a worthy adversary by keeping the U. But, as expected, Japan still remained persistent and unwilling to give up. So, on August 6, 1945, option A was implemented, and the B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped the first bomb, Little Boy, on Hiroshima, completely annihilating the population and leveling up the structures of the city that's within the blast radius. And so, upon the invention of the atomic bomb and its detonation in New Mexico on August 16, 1945, the United States was made open to two big options: use the bomb to end the war swiftly but sacrifice the lives of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians, or try to wear Japan down by fighting them the old fashioned way, risking a war that could extend a year longer, causing more damage, both lives and resources, to both sides compared to just using persuasion of the bomb itself. Of course, these were the options that President Harry Truman faced, and his decision was very tough, but it was definitely for the betterment of all, even including Japan herself.
