Community service
Day 1 - first day of community service began when as Stephen, Michael and I set off by bus to Mossgil park retirement home. When we got there the rest of our group, Janelle, Iona and David had already arrived there and we started to set it up bingo so that 1 person reads out the numbers while the others help the elderly who were playing bingo to find the numbers on the card that was given to them. Almost immediate after we got there I soon got to know a resident named Pablo who seemed very friendly. I could see that the residents really seemed to appreciate the fact that a group of school kids were spending time with them, even if it was a few games of uneventful bingo the elderly really seemed appreciative of us just being there. I believe my role in the program is to be there for any residents who want to talk or just someone to listen. Also just being there to put a smile on their face if need be.After this first day I didn't really fe
When I was helping out at the retirement home I really found out that these people don't need all that stuff they live without most of it and still get along just fine. I was very bored playing only bingo every day that we came there, without a change with the exceptions where we did a bit of gardening. Another positive aspect was being there to talk to some of the residents who ended up being really talkative once you got to know them. 1 Cor 12:1-11 - This passage from the bible talks about how people have been led astray over time to become to dependant on modern technology than to embrace the more important things in life. el any different compared to when I walked into the retirement home, but I knew that I had mad a difference just playing bingo with the residents. Day 9 - Today was a bit different than normal days, it started out normal but as the time went on each person doing community service went to the living area and wrote a little thank you on a card which was presented to the center when the day finished. Day 2 - The second day of community service was pretty much exactly the same as the first in that all we did was play bingo, I arrived there the say way as I had done the previous week (a little bit late this time), and proceeded to help set up a game of bingo, which was the same as last week but with a few different people playing. NegativeI think there was only one real negative aspect about community service and that was the boredom factor because that was huge. Day 8 - Today Michael and I did a bit of gardening much like day 6. Which I think was really appreciated by the residentsPositiveI think some of the Positive aspect of community service was the way all of the residents seemed love playing bingo with us I don't know if it was because we were there or if they just liked playing bingo but they really seemed to enjoy it. Day 3 - Today was the same as the last week, I arrived the same way as I did before and helped set up bingo again. Day 6 - Today was a little different to last week in that we did a bit of gardening and helped the staff clear a few tree branches that had fallen down. Day 5 - Today was the same as the last week, I arrived the same way as I did before and helped set up bingo again. Day 7 - Today was the same as the days where we played bingo, I arrived the same way as I did before and helped set up bingo again.
