Walden, Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, In Memorian

             Thoreau main purpose of Walden, "find truth about oneself," which gives readers inspiration and motivation to reach for a higher level of existence. Thoreau describes the natural world in which he is living with rich images and comparisons. In his opening pages of Walden, Thoreau writes, "love wisdom as to live life of simplicity, independence, magnanimity, and trust." Thoreau relates to nature in Walden in every aspect of life simplicity. In Walden, Thoraue kept a journal about the nature around him while living at Walden Pond for two years. Thouraue wrote about how the natural world influenced his soul. He let nature be his inspiration, and wrote about the effects it had on him spiritually. Thouraue was a romantic writer and believed the main source of human happiness was nature. His deepened appreciation for the beauties of nature is evident in Walden.
             Thoureau eminent selections of words simply try to tell readers to live to the fullest in every aspect. Thoreau was an inspirational writer, he wrote, "I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." I believe this was a remarkable selection of words that made such an effect on me as I read Walden. It makes one realize if one was really living and happy with the state that they are in. Not to find out that once death will echo our name, our life will not flash before our eyes, and the only thing you come to realize is that you have not lived your life to the fullest. This simple mental picture of life and death makes my body tremble.
