Romeo and Juliet Final

             In Shakespeare's famous play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo, the main character, does not mature by the end. In Romeo and Juliet two families, the Capulets and the Montegues are in a feud which has lasted for generations. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet fall in love at first sight, not knowing that the other is from the rival family. When they learn each other's names they are shocked, but they already love each other so much that a name means nothing to them. Their love is forbidden because the families have so much hatred for each other, but like their names, that doesn't matter. The two soon get married and are happy together. That is, until Romeo's best friend Mercutio is killed by Tybalt and Romeo fights Tybalt and ends up killing him. For killing Tybalt, Romeo is banished from Verona, the city where the play takes place, and will be executed if he returns. Romeo returns to Verona anyways and visits Juliet. When Romeo hears that Juliet has died, he goes to the Capulet family vault and kills himself by her side, not knowing that she drank a potion that makes her appear dead, but keeps her alive. She wakes to find her love dead and kills herself with his dagger, concluding the play. Throughout the play Romeo shows signs of immaturity such as impulsiveness, selfishness, and lust.
             One sign of immaturity that Romeo show is lust. An example of Romeo showing lust is during the annual Capulet ball. When Romeo meets Juliet and they talk for a minute Romeo says "Then move not while my prayer's effect I take."(I, v, 117) Just when he finishes saying this he kisses Juliet. He says this after he and Juliet talk about saints and prayers. This shows lust because Romeo has such a desire to be with Juliet that he just kisses her. Another example is just after he kisses Juliet for the first time and she says that her lips have taken a sin and he replies "Sin from my lips? O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my ...
