Fate vs free will
The question of whether our lives are controlled by fate or free will has and will always be around, because we will never have evidence that either is right or wrong. I however, have a belief that our lives are governed solely by free will. I think we are all given the chance over the course of our lives to make our own decisions. Our fate, or the way our life turns out, is the outcome of which ones we make. I have been raised as a Catholic, so I do believe that God has a plan for each and every one of us. However, I also believe that it's merely a plan, not necessarily a destiny. This plan is simply the path that God hopes we follow, but it's up to us to make the right decisions to stay on that path. I have also been taught to go to church to learn the gospel, so that I can live by the Bible and practice God's ways. If we were all fated to make certain decisions and to end up
If our lives were fated then that means at birth, each person is already destined for one or the other. If God or some greater being is the one who supposedly chooses our destiny, I don't believe he would doom anyone to Hell. While some people will always believe that they are doomed or destined, I still believe everyone's lives are based upon free will, and a little bit of pure mystery. Some people think our lives are governed by fate merely because certain people just seem to have an awful lot of bad luck. a certain way then why would we bother going to church? The gospel is supposed to help us make the right decisions. Certain mysteries, like whether or not fate exists, can never be fully understood by human beings. Our "fate" to me, is just our excuse for not knowing how we got there. I think everyone has the chance and deserves the chance to be happy, thus I believe in free will. I think fate is just an excuse for the unexplainable coincidences that lead people where they do or do not want to be in life. This issue is controversial though, because personally I believe in God, but how can we say that God knows all of our fates when some people do not even believe in him. Free will is the choices we make that lead us to our fate. People would drive themselves crazy thinking of whether fate, free will, or pure chance controlled every situation. Maybe it's fate that I would have to write this paper to get my mind thinking about it, or perhaps is it just the free will of the teacher ???. Sure some people are luckier than others, but some things you just can not explain. I question myself though, because if there is a God, how can there be free will? God is supposed to be all knowing, so he would know our future before we were even encountered with decisions to make.
