Anything Is Possible
Have you ever had a goal you set for yourself, but after a while you thought that it would be impossible to reach? As for me it’s been many goals and so far I’ve reached every single one of them. I have come to realize that all things are possible and I am capable of doing anything if I put my mind to it.Flight 210 to Florida now boarding, flight 210 to Florida now boarding. That’s us, the USA Youth Track and Field team. We grab our bags and stand in line to give the lady our tickets to get on the plane. As I proceed to take my seat, I felt my heart began to race at a fast pace. I looked at my coach and he looked at me, he could tell I was nervous. He said to me “there’s nothing to worry about, you’ll be fine”. The Junior Olympics was two days away and already I have the bubble guts. I put my headphones on and turned my music up as I tried to tune out my loud and over excited teammates. It’s the last two weeks of summer vacation and my goal is to come home with three gold medals. My teammates were behind me talking about the fastest teams entering the Junior Olympics, and who we had to worry about in order to win. In my eyes we only had to worry about ourselves. As the plane began to take off things began to quite down and . . .
I get a great start and my form is perfect I feel it. It’s him and I running stride for stride and suddenly I see myself starting to pull into the lead. As they went through the bronze and silver medals, I applauded my competitors to show my respects for them. That calmed me down some, because it gave me a legitimate shot to make the finals. The announcer speaks runners to mark. He handed it off to our second leg that ran his best race of the year and kept us in second. He looked at me and said, “Do you see now the great things that come to you when you work hard and get good grades”. But as they called out the gold 4x 400 meter relay champions, I couldn’t hold back my joys and tears. The crowd was in an uproar cheering us both on. I got within ten meters of him with one hundred meters to go. I felt like I was running as fast as I could. The crowd went crazy as I got to the finish line and seen that we had broken the record for the fastest 4x 400 relay time. While walking to the exit door to go to the team van, I heard an announcement that made me feel kind of comfortable. We had the fastest time in the 4x 100 so we automatically qualified and we made the finals for the 4x 400.
