Essay on Brave New World
A British author, Aldous Huxley, wrote Brave New World in 1931. In this novel, the writer tells us of how the government might control and condition people in the future. Even though the people in Brave New World say they are happy, they are not truly happy. They think they are happy because they are conditioned so that they do not encounter any negative experiences. Use of soma, no rejection in your love life, the convenient technological improvement, and no fear towards death are some of the conditioning done to these people to make them think they are blissful. Soma is a drug that is made in the Brave New World. It has "all the advantages of Christianity and alcohol; none of their defects". (Huxley; pg45) So, it is "the perfect drug". (Huxley; pg45) When something stresses you and you want to break off from the reality, you would take a gram.The return to civilization was for her the return to soma, was the possibility of lying in bed and taking holiday after holiday, without ever having to come back to a headache or a fit of vomiting, without ever being made to feel as you always felt after peyotl, as though you'd done something so shamefully anti-social that you could never hold up your head

Death is a condition we do not wish to be, and we dislike getting older. We keep their internal secretions artificially balanced at a youthful equilibrium. Five khaki twins, each with the stump of a long eclair in his right hand, and their identical faces variously smeared with liquid chocolate, were standing in a row, puggily goggling at him. (Huxley; pg31)Since "everyone belongs to everyone else", there is no rejection. We are starting to fit the world Huxley drew out back in 1931. They met his eyes and simultaneously grinned. Also using soma makes you to not care about committing a blunder.
