Brothers

             In "Skins", the story is set among the Indian Reservation and War. The movie portrays a bond between brothers, alcoholism, and poverty. Frustrated with rampant alcoholism and crime on the reservation, Rudy becomes violent.
             A brother's bond can be like no other, and it can never be broken. Rudy and Mogie are two brothers that grew up on the Pine Ridge reservation. Mogie used to take care of Rudy until he returned from the war. Mogie is a Vietnam veteran who came back to the reservation as an alcoholic. Rudy is a police officer, who is very frustrated at his brother's drinking habit. Some days he finds himself arresting his own brother, Mogie, for being drunk and disorderly.
             Rudy tries to take the law into his hands. Teaching everybody a lesson that does something wrong. He runs into an incident of spousal abuse, the man has accused his wife of cheating on him. He also burns down the local liquor store (white-owned). He wants to prevent anymore suffering of his people. As a result of Rudy burning down the liquor store, he sent his brother Mogie to the hospital, because Mogie was inside trying to still beer.
             Alcoholism is a major factor throughout the entire reservation. Indians didn't have any faith in themselves anymore, since the whites have took everything from them. Alcohol tends to rationalize their problems as the cause of the problem and not the result of drinking.
             It was not until Rudy heard that his brother had kidney failure that he wanted to heal the relationship with his brother. So Rudy carries out a final act of boldness to bring honor to his family and his tribe. He pour red paint on the mountains.
