Leonardo DaVinci

             Leonardo Da Vinci, widely known as a great artist, was also a philosopher and had one of the greatest minds of his time, designing many inventions and blueprinting ideas way before his time. Leonardo Da Vinci made many contributions to society through not only his artistic, but through his incredible scientific skills. Leonardo Da Vinci contributed to society through his art, through his science, and through his innovations.
             Leonardo Da Vinci, disputedly known as the greatest artist of all time, is most famous for his painting of the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. However, Da Vinci also created such paintings as Madonna on the Rocks and The Baptism of Christ. "Many believe that Da Vinci's great ability for painting came from his great understanding of the human body and his recognition of science. Many believe that what made Da Vinci such a great painter was his ability to understand how the face shows the emotions of the person who is being painted" (Hill, 95). Da Vinci was a strong naturalist who payed extreme attention to detail and would notice things that the regular man would never catch. Da Vinci had a way of painting about him that he could make on side of the painting look happy and one half look sad, without a real noticeable difference. As evident in Da Vinci's greatest painting the Mona Lisa. "In the Mona Lisa many art experts believe that half of the painting is supposed to make her look happy, while the other half she should look sad." (Gadson, p. 111) There is no true evidence to back it up but the way the painting is painted points to signs that Da Vinci made some of the "mistakes" on the painting on purpose. His artwork was greatly sought after and is considered priceless by today's standards. His artwork has greatly contributed to society and is now known in pretty much every household.
