Heart Disease

"Heart attacks kill thousands a year and even healthy people are at risk" (AkronA1). Heart disease is an epidemic that is going around the United States. Both men and women have a high probability of heart attacks but the male species has a greater risk. Many men and women live life not caring about their body until they are older, the way people live their life whether good or bad will have a negative or positive effects on their body and heart, as you get older. Since the increase of heart disease, many doctors and scientists have come up with different methods of helping prevent heart disease and teaching people how to live with this new way of life. Heart disease like mentioned previously is a disease that can affect the male or female. Getting a heart attack is said to be the clogging of the arteries and veins in the heart (Akron A2). Many different symptoms lead and contribute to the risk factors of a heart attack, but can be prevented. The first step that could be taken is to run a series of tests to see if you have this disease. Some tests that a patient can take is a echocardiogram which measures blood flow and helps the doctor visualize the hearts pumping action (Akron A2). Another one is a chest X-ray

This condition of high blood pressure (hypertension) can be inherited, but in many Americans case, it is because of over weight problems (obesity) or high salt diet. The reason why cholesterol does damage to the heart is that it forms fatty deposits that can clog the hearts arteries. Other was to prevent stress is to take things step by step, if you fell too agitated to for a walk ; take deep breaths and so on and so forth (Akron A6). In addition, if the person is over weigh he/she must lose weight to help keep the cholesterol levels stable (Akron A6). You can also prevent this by having your blood pressure checked regularly and have a low-salt diet, and keep a good ideal weight (Akron A6) Cholesterol is another problem, "cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in every cell of the body". In a study that was done earlier last year to 52 countries in Lancet, called Interheart did the study on 24,767 people, said that stress at work home and financial stress raised the risk of heart attacks 2. To prevent getting cholesterol a person should watch their diet, in the sense that the person should eat fruits and vegetables, have a low fat diet. There are many more but those are just two for the understanding. This "medical consequence" so to speak is becoming known at heart attacks. Stress can come from problems in a job or in a home that a person cannot deal with and just complicates the situation even further. "Within just a few years, new weapons against heart disease will be working to stamp the nations leading killer" (Healing the Heart). Chronic Stress is becoming known as having a long range of medical consequences.
