If you ask any person what is their fondest memory of childhood, it is guaranteed that they would have to stop and think about it. Each and every one of us all has special memories of our past. However, some may wonder why our childhood memories cannot be recalled before a certain age. Although the process that underlie memory detention seems similar throughout our life span, the quantity of information stored and recalled does differ as a child develops.
             Our brains are constantly working to process and retrieve information. A person may wonder why they cannot retrieve the information that is recessed from their earliest childhood. The inability to remember can occur for a number of reasons that range from simple forgetting to phenomena such as infantile amnesia. Infantile amnesia is a scientific term that is described as an adult's inability to remember events before the age three. For example, when college students are asked whether they can recall the birth of a sibling before the age three, they all responded they could remember virtually nothing.
             The question whether memories formed during childhood are retained into adulthood remains an open issue. Although a child's memories may be highly detailed and can be enduring if the child experience repeated reminders, it is still not clear how accurate those memories will remain over the course of their life span.
             The reason that the memory detention maybe affected throughout someone's life span is because of it being suspensible to interference from other, newer information, which is blocked out from older information, therefore preventing it to be recalled. Recalling memory has proven to be sensitive to environmental context in which it was initially formed.
