STALIN
Throughout history, we have seen a number of leaders. Some have brought greatness to our world but we have also seen the destruction one powerful person can cause. However, this was not the case for Joseph Stalin. Joseph Stalin brought about great reform to the country of Russia throughout the reign of the totalitarian government. In power from 1918 to 1953, Stalin controlled every aspect of Russia. Although Stalin's long run as controller of Russia caused good for the country itself, this good hid the detrimental treatment of Stalin towards his citizens. Although Stalin proved good for his country, a few negative qualities are evident in him. Instead of being a civil democratic leader, Stalin chose the route of dictatorship. Stalin showed no sympathy or mercy in his decisions and everything he did would benefit him in some way. If something conflicted with what he was trying to accomplish, he would find a way to have what he wanted. "In December 1934 Sergei Kirov, the Communist Party leader in Leningrad, was murdered. Throughout Stalin's time, his enemies or even those who stood against him in any way would be subjected to mock trials. Although sought to bring relief to Russia throughout the grain crisis of 1928, the five year plan contributed to the hardships of communist Russia. He was unable to see the effects of his self-pleasing decisions and failed to see that his choices would create great devastation for the world and especially for Russia. His inability to see things in the grand view caused a great problem for him. " Over the 45 years the Stalin was in power, he contributed both to the hardship of his people as well as the reconstruction and rebuilding of communist Russia. Although it sought to bring relief to Russia, it brought only hardship and struggles to its citizens. In Stalin's mind, he believed that the hard working government was losing money to private traders. " Stalin's effects on Russia and his impact on world history will never be forgotten. His dictatorship caused the people of Russia to live with the seizure of grain, cruel and unusual punishment, unsatisfactory working hours and terrible living conditions. During his reign, Stalin also created the concept of a five year plan. In the end, Stalin's five year plan caused a mass disruption in Russia's agriculture and not to mention the invaluable loss of countless lives. The world is populated with over six billion people, but one man was capable of causing tragedy and creating statistics that will continue to shock further generations for as long as time goes by.
