Patriotism

             Being patriotic is more than just putting up a flag. It is the very essence of the meaning of your country to you. It is your need to stand up, take charge, and fight for your country and its rights, and its very survival if need be. It is your desire to have and show pride in your country. Patriotism is also your joy to join in the celebrations for your country with the rest of its people. To be patriotic is to love in your heart your country and its people.
             First of all, everyone has the potential to be patriotic and fight for his or her country. Our country exists only because people who were patriotic took a stand and fought for their independence and rights. Being patriotic is the burning urge that someone may have to risk their life for their nation's rights. It is a powerful force, an emotion of almost religious magnitude, and if people remain patriotic our country will be strong.
             Also, patriotism means a strong sense of pride in your country. Patriotism is pride in your country's history, both ancient and recent, as well as pride in its future. It is a feeling that one gets when visiting national monuments or museums. It is also pride in the accomplishments of its people and the quest for further greatness.
             Finally, patriotism is the feeling one gets when waving an American flag during a parade while celebrating the national holidays. Patriotism is the same feeling you get when watching fireworks on Independence Day. It is also the same feeling that you get when you wear red, white, and blue on Memorial Day. Patriotism is the feeling you get when you hear someone play the national anthem.
             Patriotism is a feeling, no its more than a feeling, it's a knowing deep down inside that you are a part of something very special and very important.
