Which Of The Music Promos You Have Watched Do You Think Is The more Successful In Promoting The Artists Music To Us As An Audience, And Why? I have watched two music promos that try and promote the music and the artists in very different ways. I have watched a video by an artist called 'Harry' and the song was called 'So Real'. She plays rock music. I have also watched a video by a band called 'Dirty Vegas' and the song was called 'Days Go By'. They play alternative music. I think that Dirty Vegas are more successful in promoting the artists music to us as the audience. I do not think that Harry's video for 'So Real' is a very good video to try and sell the song. I think this because it does not target a wide range of people. A lot of people would not want to watch the video as there are many disturbing parts in the video, which are deliberately unpleasant. It would only attract a small audience, although I think that is successful in promoting the song to a certain group of people. I think that this video is targeting both genders, but mainly male between the ages of about 14 and 20. They would be the type of people who would mainly listen to rock music and maybe watch music channels like 'Kerrang'. I think that it
Many people, without knowing it, will watch the video and like Harry's image and therefore like the music. This is very disturbing as I think this means that to gain power and authority, you have to kill. From the start the video is quite disturbing. Their video is simpler and easier to understand. I think that it would appeal to male and female from the ages of 14 and 30. It is about a man who's girlfriend has broken up with him so he dances with people watching, waiting for her to come back to him. On the petrol pump it says lives per gallon and the liquid that comes out of this is red, symbolising blood. I think this is showing that the man has been dancing for years and these years have probably gone very slowly as he has lost someone that he loved. I think that the most disturbing bit in this video is when Harry is about to pump petrol into a car. I think that for people to fully understand this video the first time they watched it, they would have to be very well educated. I think that this is showing that the problems with war are new as well as old. She is wearing very casual clothes in this section as usually she is wearing a suit. The viewer wants to know 'what happens next?' I think that 'Dirty Vegas' is more successful than 'Harry' because they reach out to a wider target audience. When the camera focuses on Harry, she has black net on her face so she looks as if she is going to a funeral.
