Salem
Ten years of living in the same house I decided I wanted to move into town, into a small town house. I hired some movers and they had all my stuff moved in the new house within a weekend. The house was not too big, but also not too small. It did have a few rooms that needed a little work, mainly the pipes. The pipes in the basement, they tended to leak every once and a while. One day while I was downstairs looking at and measuring the pipes I noticed one pipe that was leaking a lot. Of course it had to be a big one and lead right into the wall. "This is going to be a pain to fix." I thought to myself. I got finished measuring all the pipes that needed replaced and headed up stairs.I took a quick glance at the clock on the stove, 1:30. Wow I need something to eat. So as I decided to go to the downtown Taco Bell and grab something to eat. As I was walking inside, everybody seemed to be talking about a house. "What could that be about?" I wondered but decided to keep walking. I ordered what I thought would be good, and went a sat down. The people at the table to the right of me, was talking about the oldest house in town. They said it looked vacant, but it wasn't. They didn't go into much detail. The one thing they did say about
Why? All the windows were covered over with a thick blanket, no one could see in, or see out. Luckily I still had my lighter in my pocket. There was no sign of electric outlets around, so must mean there is not power in the house. While I was walking around a few older ladies were talking about the same house that the people in Taco Bell were talking about. For some odd reason something inside me told me to look down. Wanting to wait for the water to dry, I walked up stairs and examined the key in better light. I made it up the long drive, which seemed a lot longer than it looked. I asked the manger of Taco Bell how to get to the nearest hardware store. I also didn't want to pay too little, so they would break sooner. I approached the end of town at an exceeding speed. Started down the basement stairs and I heard a loud noise. Wow, as I walked further down I saw water all over the floor.
