What marketing techniques are used in the ASC?
The very small shops I noticed that they use cheaper means of advertising such as leaflets that the pass out, posters that they hang up and also just by word of mouth, this is very good for the small shops as it is very cheap as they both can be done on computers.
Word of mouth works well because when people like the shop they tell others and soon its very well known, word of mouth also works well because it free and wont cost a penny.
When doing my survey on the ASC I noticed how a lot of the shops advertise their business, depending on the size of the business there are very different strategies.
I noticed that for the semi-popular shops they would use adverts in magazines and in newspapers to advertise there business, this I think is a very good idea as it is quite cheap and quite and effective way of advertisements but it does have its disadvantages.
Some papers and magazines may charge more than others so it takes a while to look around also it is hard to determine the type of people that you are reaching through the paper as theses people may be the wrong kind for that particular shop.
A better way would be to find a magazine, which relates to the shop for example if a car shop needs advertising it would be smarter to place an add in a car magazine rather than advertising in a paper that people who want new cars wouldn't read, so the shop is getting the right type of people.
The big shops such as Tesco or Microsoft can afford to have expensive T.V adverts and radio, this I think is the very best type of advertisement as it reaches so many people and a very wide variety of people because a lot of people will listen to the radio and even more watch T.V, these adverts can be very expensive so that is why it is usually only the big companies who can afford and who do it.
