Analzying My Favorite Televisi

My favorite television show is one on one. It comes on at 8:00 on UPN on Tuesday nights. It is a comedy about a single African American dad (Flex) raising his teenage daughter (Brianna). He is a sports caster on a television station and is very well known. His role as a single dad is nontraditional because in most African American single persons are usually female.
This episode is dealing with racial tension. Two white security officers stopped Dwayne, Flex's next-door neighbor and best friend, in front of his apartment. There had been a burglary and the victim said the robber had on a red sweatshirt. Instead of looking for the robber, the officer stopped the first black man that they ran into. Dwayne asked why they stopped him when a white man with a red sweatshirt and a television up under his arm ran by. There reply was because he fit the description.
The television station that Flex works for was trying to broaden there viewing audience. Flex figured his job was safe because he was so well known. The station's weather girl, who was black, was fired and informed Flex his job was next. Flex feared he was going to be fired. He decides to try an act more like his white counter parts. He only ended up making a fool of himself and the station's manager informed him he would lose his job. The reason the weather girl lost her job was because she made $5,000 worth of long distance personal calls on company time. She tries to use inequality to cover her wrongdoing.
I think viewers that watch this show enjoy it because of the real-life situations, and reality it has to today's society. It is trying to cover to express to its viewers that even if you are seen as minority, you don't have to categorize yourself as one. It is more important to be seen through your character rather than the color of your skin.
