Who is one of your favorite people in history? Mine had a hard childhood. He was a ruthless general. His son was a very remarkable person too. He was the one the only Gengis Khan.
Temujin also known as Genghis Khan meaning "universal ruler".He was born in a felt tent in about 1167A.D. His father died when he was 13 years old then his tribe abandoned him and his family. After that his mother had to raise him and his siblings. His mother told him only to trust his shadow which shows that he had a very hard childhood. In his early teens he became a commander with a man named Wang Khan.
Genghis Khan was very successful in battle. He defeated the Naniman tribe in1204A.D. and became sole ruler of all the mongols. In the years after that he unified the mogols under a strict law of dicipline. He wanted to make the best army of his time. His army specialised in the art of siege. His army conqured a city called Suix Jin. He then conqured all of the land around present day beijing. He was a ruthless general even the most conservative estimates are several million enemy casualties. He died in 1227A.D
Genghis Khan also had a grandson named Kublai Khan. He conqured all of China. His land also extended from Korea to Hungary and as far south as Vietnam. He also tried to extend his land to Europe in many unsuccessful campaignes. When Kublai ruled he had the largest empire the world has ever known. The mongols of his time are mostly remembered for their ruthless military force. After Kublai died in 1294A.D the mongols became less warlike.
Living back then would be scary. I feel sorry for Gengis Khan when he was a kid. His battle tactics were almost flawless. Kublai was equally sucessful too. Both Gengis and Kublai were remarkable people and I don't think that history could survive without them.
