Unfinished Business
Hebrews 12:1- Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin, which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.How many have ever heard of Lance Armstrong? Probably most of you. Everyone knows that he is a world-renowned cyclist. He has won countless races, and is known worldwide. But many people don't know that Armstrong during his earlier racing years was diagnosed with cancer. Now knowing this, most people would just give up and just as soon die. That is the attitude of many of our generation. If something bad comes along, then we just decide that everything is hopeless and give up. Let's look at the first few words of this scripture. "Let us, (God's people) lay aside every weight." Now this weight can be different for different people. The weight or burden could be your home life. Maybe your parents just got a divorce, and you are blaming yourself, God, or possibly both. You might have a problem at school holding you back. It might be that you fell that no one understands you, that you are alone. You might even be struggling in school, and have lost all self-confidence in yourself. What ever your problem may be, I'm here to tell you that God is here to get you through these tri
Just as he overcame that cancer, which was a major weight in his life, we can, through God, lay aside our own situations hindering us from our true calling. We must truly acknowledge our sins, and ask for forgiveness. Lance Armstrong overcame his cancer, and the message of the world saying that he wouldn't make it. It could be Drugs, a bad Relationship, Profanity, Pornography, or any other sin, which is all, that keeps us from finishing what God has in stored upon us to do. He wasn't going to let anything keep him from that goal. " If Armstrong didn't have endurance, he probably wouldn't win many, if any, races. All we need to do is realize it, and then we will see that we do in fact have unfinished business . But if we turn to God and put our trust in him, then he will get us out of the trap (sin). "Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us. Everyone sins, and God will forgive us if we only ask. But when sin overpowers you and takes over your life, is when you have a major problem. Sin is a trap set by the Devil that we fall into. For God has a purpose for each and every one of us.
