Going along you life there is always that one person and that one
place that eternally dwells in our minds. Though our five senses we are able
to learn and love the people and places in our minds. The person that I
admire the most is my great grandma. She is such an amazing grandmother
to my mom, and now one to me. Some of my fondest memories are with her.
My Great Grandmother's most admirable quality was that she was a
hard worker. She was a schoolteacher that was strict, but only because she
expected ones very best. She was small reaching only about 5 Foot 3, and as
she aged her appearance seem to become even more fragile. Each week she
went to the salon to get her hair watched and styled. She always smelled of
hair spray, because she would just spray it all week, until her next
appointment. She spent a lot of her free time in the garden, and grew just
about everything. I always love going over to help her garden even though I
get in trouble for eating more then I pick. I lived for our long chats in the
sunlight with the smell of the earth rising around us; we were in our own
little paradise. Her smile was knowledgeable yet mysterious, as if she knew
the answers to all the questions. When she talked she would grab my hands
to try to emphasize her point. I was always amazed at how smooth and soft
her old wrinkled hands felt. I run my fingers over her jewelry-covered hands
in admiration. She has old fashion values that she sticks to religiously. Being
the picturesque homemaker she is, she always cooked the best meals, and
went to church every Sunday. She constantly demanded everyone around her
to act his or her best. Overall, she is the last shred of living proof that life
can be happy and simple all at the same time.
