             THE SOFTWARE PIRACY FROM ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW
             The theft of intellectual property is maybe the most often committed crime nowadays. Like special case of it we can consider the software piracy, which proves to be one of the major plagues of our time. A lot of things are being made to prevent it. However, I am not going to talk about preventive measures. Instead I would try to turn our attention to the reasons why piracy is so wide spread and so tempting. Reasons to engage in piracy can be different, as like the type of piracy you are engaged in.
             I start with the reasons why should someone prefer a copy than licensed software. Obviously, the first thing everybody would think about is the price difference. Usually the price of pirate made copy is ten, twenty or even fifty times smaller than the price of the original product. Of course, the quality of the copy is questionable and you will not have the fancy cover the original has. However, if you have bought the copy for one fifth of the price of the original, you still have money left for four other pirate-copies. In case you miss the good looking cover, you should simply remind yourself how cheap you bought the software.
             Fifty times smaller price sounds very tempting, doesn't it. Alas, copying software without a corresponding license for that is illegal. However, since there are not convicted for possessing copied software for own use, the question about using copied software is rather matter of one's conscience and ethics. With copying or using copied software, you strike upon the companies developing that software. Besides for improving the company-owners own wealth, the money you pay are also used for developing the next product. I short you chose not to buy the original product, there are few less coins for the company. So if you want the company to continue to exist and make new products you should probably consider buying the original.
