You, Too, Can Raise a Family While Working and Going to School It is not easy when you get older and decide to go back to school, especially if you are a 36 year old mother of four. There have been many occasions when I have thought that I should have gone to school much earlier in my life. It would have been a lot easier on everyone, but no one has a crystal ball and you cannot see into the future. So here I am, in school full time, working full time and raising a family full time. The decision to go back to school was an agonizing one. You wonder what effect it will have on your family and your own life. The reality of going back to school to earn a degree to make a better life for you and your family is what you focus on. Add that to the faith you have and you can do anything you set your mind to. You have to depend on other people which is difficult for me because I prefer to do it myself instead of asking for help. These days are very stressful; you feel like you are being torn in every direction. I get home around 4:30 and have to be at the track field by 4:45 to pick up my daughter. Some cases only accept certain nurses and not all of the nurses are trained on every private duty case. The one thing that keeps me going is my faith. You have to remember to take one day at a time. Asking your children for help with the household chores will cut your cleaning time. The most important thing to remember is not to lose your patience. You spend every waking spare moment on homework while trying to squeeze in quality time with your family. I try to leave one day a week to myself where I don't do any of my homework.
