Frankenstein written in 1816 was translated to modern film for a modern audience in 1994, the time laps between the two was 178 years. Although other films where made, modern technology allowed the viewer to see more in the way of affects. Turning literature into a visual picture out with the imagination is a hard feat and the modern film was produced in the 1994 version. Its battle to keep the modern audience fixated was won by altering the film from the book in places. Unlike the original literature which has the advantage of holding the reader through words which describe and explain, the film had to show and perform via; vision, actions and sound. The purpose of this essay is to show the contrast between Shelly's book and the modern film, it will take into consideration the changing slant of the modern society and the politically correct visions of Shelly's era and of modern era.
             Frankenstein written in the language of our Victorian predecessors appears to be a tale of love and horror, but once read so much more is disclosed, it is a book which tackles man's knowledge to find himself and to become one with god as giver and taker of

             It covers the knowledge of the day regarding science and art and the human thirst for questions asked and answers given.

             Throughout the early stages of the plot the confusion, frustration and anger within Victor can be felt via his thoughts and feelings. He is well educated in primitive science which is thrust to the wind.
