tylenol murders
There are some things you do in life that you would never expect could harm you or your loved ones. For instance: watching television, going to the movies, or even taking a simple capsule of Tylenol for a headache. Well, that's what seven innocent victims thought when they took Tylenol, unaware that they would soon become victims of product tampering. There were seven victims total in the Chicago area who all became victims of the Tylenol scare. These poisoned capsules were placed in six different stores with the intent of killing random people. One of these victims included twelve year old Mary Kellerman of Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Mary woke up early on September 29, 1982 and went to her parents room complaining of having a sore throat . (Mary Kellerman) That same day, twenty-seven year old Adam Janus died from what was believed to be the result of a massive heart attack. Is the Tylenol murderer still alive? Could he be living in your neighborhood? Someone out there knows the killer and knows of his actions. Keyworth suggested that four deaths might have been caused by taken Tylenol. Soon after taking the capsules, both Stanley and his wife collapsed on the floor. Many people were questioned and one person was even held in prison for thirteen years. Johnson & Johnson had to figure out a way to deal with the problem without destroying there reputation. Mourning the loss of a family member, Adam's family and friends had gathered at his house. Doctor's believed she had simply died of a stroke, but later found out it was something more horrible. Tylenol products were re-introduced containing a triple-seal tamper resistant packaging. Philip Cappitelli of the Arlington Heights Fire department talked with his friend Richard Keyworth about how Mary Kellerman had taken Tylenol shortly before her death. The final three victims all died within a couple hours of each other. Unfortunately, three other victims had died before finding out the news about these deadly capsules. (The Tampered Capsules) After the connection was made between the Tylenol and the deaths, public announcements were made warning people about the deadly product. These victims included Twenty-seven-year-old Mary Reiner of Winfield, Illinois, 35-year-old Paula Prince and 35-year-old Mary McFarland of Elmhurst, Illinois.
