A Day In The Park
As you make your way through the winding path of the nature trails, you start to notice a sound. Maybe the sound of several horns being blown simultaneously? As you walk further down the trail you notice the sound is getting louder. You come to a part of the trail that opens up. You see a pond just beyond a small grassy pasture. The sound must be the ducks on the other side of the pond. You then realize you have come to a park. This park has many things to take in but you trail slowly through as if on a tour. When you approach the pond you are on a small bridge with a rail running alongside the edge of the pond. Looking into the water you notice tiny minnows scurrying about in the water. They are unsure of weather to swim away for safety or stay for the hopes of a few crumbs thrown in the water for their meal. Remembering the sandwich in your pocket you brought for lunch, you toss in a few pieces for the hungry fish. Across the pond the ducks take notice of this kindness and soon swim ove
They seem so starved, fighting each other for the closest position in the water. You see a few squirrels running around the bushes, dancing with each other. The wind whipping through their hair as if they were going 100 mph on the swing, bending their knees to go back and then straightening them to move forward. You know now it was not just for fun, it was to feel life through their eyes. One by one, they take turns climbing the steep stairway to the top, sit down, let go, and rush to the ground screaming in joy. At the time you may not have understood why all they did was look around. In fact everything has a place shadowed on the ground. The pond shaking from the waves the ducks make as they drink. You look around to see the other people. The colors of autumn are on the ground crunching beneath your feet as you walk. You feel the breeze dancing around you and look up to see the trees take notice of the wind as well. They circle the tree trunks, on a hunt for food. You realize that the park has captured your mind for a little longer than you anticipated so you pass on, continuing the maze of trails before you. If ever you were an artist, this would be the inspiration.
