Many themes of the human experience are expressed in literature today as well as stories written thousands of years ago. Some themes or ideas are common in many stories as they may be used to render a message or exemplify a virtue. The Bible: The Old Testament has many common themes used as a religious guide for people of the Christian faith to follow according to the examples set forth by God. Job only wished to know why God had allowed this to happen since he had done no wickedness on his part. Joseph stayed with the Lord and "was a goodly person, and well favored (p. 54)" and his misfortune is proof that he must have sinned.
