BPR is a radical change that a business has to make in order to keep pace with today's ever-changing global markets. Two of the most prominent tools used to make this radical change are PeopleSoft and SAP. Majority of successful corporations are using these two client-server applications to make informed business decisions, which in return enabled these companies to accomplish their business goals and utilize the information gathered to create competitive advantage. Advantages and Disadvantages of SAPSAP's major strengths include :-First comer advantage;-Discrete advantage if integration with the back-end R/3 system;-Very simple to use and install;-SAP has over 17000 base clients internationally. In order to improve customer's efficiency and increase it market share PeopleSoft announced in May, 2003 that they will support direct integration with the SAP's business applications using PeopleSoft's AppConnect integration technology. In addition, company also offers PeopleSoft Select, a complete packaged solution including software, hardware and services to address the needs of medium-sized organizations (Montgomery Research, 1998b). SAP BasicsThe SAP system was developed by a German company SAP AG in 1972, and it comprises a number of fully integrated modules that cover the whole business. Advantages and Disadvantages of PeopleSoftSome of the PeopleSoft strengths include : -PeopleSoft design is focused on end users;-PeopleSoft applications are usually very customizable to the business;-It includes tools to fully integrate the CRM package with other front back systems, which links customer service satisfaction to back end processes;-It includes modules such as guided selling tool, HR help desk, real-time even management, pricing engine and sales incentive management. With both R/2 and R/3, customers have an option to install the core system and one or more of the functional components, or to purchase the software as a complete package. This should help organizations to reduce the cost of connecting third-party applications to its own by adding integration features to its suite. SAP business applications enable businesses to manage comprehensive financial, manufacturing, sales and distribution functions essential to their operations. The most popular SAP products are R/2 and R/3 applications. Many organizations have found that SAP is providing them with the flexibility to take control of the business situation and offer customers a wider range with services while streamlining processes, and controlling costs. PeopleSoft is also working on lowering customer's deployment costs by providing customers with a choice of running their applications on Linux (Callaghan, 2003). ng human resources management, treasury management, performance measurement and supply chain management.
