As partners of Binders Bookstore, we have collectively chosen to automate our business. There is a need for our company to be computerized; the manual approach is not cohesive. We need to investigate our needs and evaluate the products available to suit our company. It is imperative to move our bookstore into the technological age due to the high volume of sales, and competition. After being in business for 15 years, they need to reevaluate their current situation in regards to office automation. Binder's vision will aid in the success of reaching projected revenue targets while competing with the large retails. However, our staff of three and our manual cash register can just not keep up with the business any longer. The financial limitations make it necessary to clarify needs and wants. Our timeline is also fueling this project, as our competition, Barnes and Noble, is moving across the street in just five weeks. This is something that we want to automate to work with the point of sale computer and inventory. Thus far, we have made a decision to automate and are doing our due diligence to ensure that we have planned correctly and analyzed the needs of the business. (Smith, 2004) Binders will always be there for our customers that appreciate the human approach. However, we also want to keep up with the pace of our competitors and not lose ground. The technology that a mass retailer can provide is convenient for customers.
