"A Worn Path" is a story of a grandmother's love for her grandson as well as a story of hope and change because as Phoenix continues her journey, she recreates herself to obtain her goals. In all, it is a heart-touching story that focuses on the sacrifice that a grandmother makes to keep her grandson alive. It took a while to get by him, back in the summer" (Welty182). Lastly, Welty uses setting to accentuate Phoenix determination and her love for her grandson by setting most of the scene in the dangerous woods.
