Teenage Girls and the Sexual World of Advertising Picture this: quiet little 13-year old girl is sitting down to watch TGIF with her friends. During a break of commercials in between "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," an advertisement for Calvin Klein's new scent, entitled "one," appears on the screen. Perfume, however, is not the focus of this little girl's mind. All she can see is the half-naked, skinny (which may quite possibly be an understatement), blonde and beautiful woman wrapped up in the arms of a brawny, gorgeous looking male model. All this little girl can think of is how she wants to look like her one day - beautiful, large-breasted, thin (malnourished is more like it), and... well, thin! In reality most women do not even come close to looking like those models we see in advertisements every single day. Sadly enough in our society today, though, they are the epitome of the perfect girl. Also, sadly enough, young girls are negatively affected by what they see on TV, in magazines, in movies, on the internet, and much more.
