"My Christian Camp Experience"
             The year was 1998 and I was 14 years old. I had just graduated from the eighth grade and I didn't really know what I was going to do for the summer. As I left school I was walking with two of my friends, Dominique and Janno. Janno was talking about how he was going to a summer camp and about how it was going to be so much fun. I wanted to know how he was getting to the camp and who would he be going with. I was interested in the idea of a summer camp because I had never been before. Janno said that he would be going with Mr. Prince. I knew Mr. Prince because he used to be around the school all the time because his son and daughter went there. I thought he was just trying to be a concerned parent. I asked Janno why was Mr. Prince taking him to the camp. I thought Mr. Prince was just being nice or that Janno was really good friends with Mr. Prince's son, P.J. Janno told me that he was going to the camp because Mr. Prince was his pastor and that it was a Christian camp. My whole image of the camp changed at that moment. I didn't really want to go anymore after I heard that. Janno saw the look on my face and he started to plead his case to me.
             Admittedly, Janno said that it was a real Christian camp, a camp where there would be Bible study and praying and things of that nature. He also said that it would be like no other experience that I had ever had. With that statement he began to get my partial interest back. He mentioned that if I wanted to go that I would need to ask Mr. Prince. I didn't really want to do that either. I asked Janno to do it for me. I begged and pleaded with Janno for at least 5 minutes before he broke down and agreed to help me out. This way, I felt as though I had a better chance of getting the answer that I wanted to hear.
