RU 486
RU-486 also known as Mifepristone is a controversial issue in America. RU-486 provides women with an alternative option to surgical abortion. The Food and Drug Administration approved Mifepristone in the United States on September 28, 2000. When the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Mifepristone for use in the United States, it did not limit its distribution to only doctors that already perform abortions, nor did it require a doctor to complete any training to distribute the drug. Any doctor who is able to establish the date of the pregnancy conclusively and provide surgical intervention in the event that something goes wrong, may write a prescription for and administer Mifepristone. RU-486 is a non-surgical abortion. It must be used in the first seven weeks of pregnancy. RU-486 was originally produced and marketed in France by Roussel Uclaf debuting in 1988. RU-486 is also known as Mifepristone. In order for a woman to be able to use RU-486 she must first visit an approved clinic for a physical examination and pregnancy test. Her medical history is screened to determine if there is any reason why the drug should not be used in her situa
Is it morally and religiously alright to terminate a pregnancy. A woman must return several days later for a physician's examination to make sure the abortion is complete and to determine if she has experienced any side effects. Counseling should be administered before and after a person takes RU-486 because a person can sometimes be making a wrong decision if they are rushed through the ordeal. My state of mind or anyone's state of mind during this hard time would be difficult to make a smart decision. Cases like this should definitlely include parent permission or knowledge of what the teen will go through as well as counceling. Do people and doctors know the effect of RU-486 for people who smoke or people who have heart problems and high blood pressure. I think that anyone against an abortion would and should be against RU-486. I personally feel I would be very uncomfortable if an untrained physician in that area attempted to help me. I would want to know that they are trained and qualified to administer the drugs used in RU-486. In many cases teenage girls will be the ones rushing to the clinics trying to get an abortion using RU-486 for reasons like their scared of telling their parents or of being pregnant. What do people think of RU-486 when it comes to moral and religious issues. I think that in order for a doctor to be able to administer the drugs that they should have to go through a course or something to give them all the necessary knowledge to give the best care needed for the patient. The woman stays at the clinic for the next four to six hours. For RU-486 to be so readily available to anyone on the street and to simply walk into a medical office and go through a medical exam and to receive the pills used in RU-486 is not very smart. Some women also experience some nausea, vomiting or diarrhea from the prostaglandin.
