Holocaust
The Holocaust was considered in history to be the most horrifying and inhuman period. Adolf Hitler, a charismatic, Austrian-born demagogue, rose to power in Germany during the 1920s and early 1930s at a time of social, political, and economic upheaval. Failing to take power by force in 1923, he eventually won power by democratic means. Once in power, he eliminated all opposition and launched an ambitious program of world domination. He knew he had to restore Germany back to its 'greatness' and bring the pride of being German back to its people. It seemed Hitler had a motive against the Jewish people from the very beginning. Such evidence is shown in his writings of Mein Kampf, which he wrote while in prison. In Mein Kampf, there are dozens of passages that vilify and demonize the Jews such as:"Was there any excrement, any shamelessness in any form, above all in cultural life, in which at least one Jew would not have been involved? As soon as one even carefully cut into such an abscess, one found, like maggots in a decaying body, often blinded by the sudden light, a kike". These strong words by Hitler caused an extreme hatred in the Nazis who harassed and brutalized the Jews throughout the 1920s during the "struggle for power.
However, this attempt of isolating the Jewish people in Lubin failed because the Nazi's were simultaneously trying to organize to many things at once. In Ernst Hiemer's article 'When will the Jewish Danger be Over?' there is sufficient evidence of how he felt in regards to the Jewish people. It's the same with the Jew who lives among us and is forced to make use of the German language. However, murdering the Jewish people was the last resort the Germans turned to once deportation, and emigration failed. The holocaust was started by Hitler and his Nazi party but it was carried out by more than one person, which made it such a disturbing period in history. The suggestion of Ghettos didn't seem to be a proper solution in Germany because some felt "civilized Germany was not a place for ghettos to be place". This paper will discuss evidence relating to how Hitler and his followers favored and supported the start of the holocaust. This was seen as an alternative to isolating the Jews without having to resort to pushing them into Soviet territory. Hitler makes it clear that the German people were in trouble because "nevertheless, fairly clear: Bolshevism is threatening Germany with extinction, and even with the extermination (!!) of the German people, and its purpose is to enthrone international Jewry as the ruler of Europe and the world. However, in order for this proposal to work the Nazi party needed to have foreign support, which was something that was going to be hard for Hitler to achieve. Where did such hate for a race of people initially begin? Few people might say that it just happened, others might say it was lingering in the background waiting to come out. However, on September 29, "an area in behind Warsaw and around Lublin a 'nature reserve area' or 'Reichsghetto' will be created, in which all those Polish and Jewish elements will be settled". " Hiemer in his article seems to describe how the Germans tired to make the Jewish people a part of the community however, the hatred and propaganda that was defused in to the hearts of most German people by the Nazi party proved to be much stronger than many expected. In conclusion the holocaust was considered the most horrifying display of resentment towards one race. In September 1939, the processes of the concentration camps were beginning in Warsaw.
