A Biography of the Life of Sigmund Freud

             The early twentieth century brought to the forefront a type of psychology different from those previous. Freud's idea of the unconscious mind opened up new and previously unexplored insights into the field of Psychology. Sigmund Freud's contributions to the field of psychology are endless, but his contributions more than any others would not have been possible without his own real-life experiences. These experiences of his began at birth and lasted the span of his entire life.
             Born the son of Jakob Freud, a Jewish wool merchant, and Amalie Nathanson on May 6, 1856, Sigmund Freud was the eldest of eight children born of Jakob and Amalie. Two half brothers of Sigmund also lived with the family from his father's first marriage. In October of 1859, the Freud family moved to Vienna where Sigmund lived until the summer of 1938. During his stay in Vienna, he attended high school at the Leopoldstadter Communal-Real Und Obergymnasium where he graduated in July of 1873. After his graduation from high school, he registered with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Vienna. during his stay here he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Physiology under Ernst Brucke, with neurology as his main concentration of study. After eight years in the medical program at the University of Vienna, Freud obtained his doctorate in the field of medicine. Upon finishing up his doctorate work, Freud performed his clinical practice at the Allgemeines Krankenhaus and became more familiar with clinical neurology. under the guidance of Dr. Scholz, Freud intensified his knowledge in the fields of clinical neurology and neurological diagnosis.
             On April 25, 1886, Freud opened up his first neurologist's office in Vienna. Later that same year, in September, Freud married Martha Bernay of Hamburg Germany.
